Inchicore Wagon Shop & Associated Works

The Inchicore Wagon Shop & Associated Works, located at CIÉ Works in Inchicore, Dublin 8, underwent a major redevelopment project led by Precision Construction Ltd. Spanning 8 months from October 2023 to July 2024, this project aimed to modernise the facility for Iarnród Éireann's new fleet of electric trains. The main tasks included demolishing existing service pits, forming new ones, and installing a new 1000kVA transformer. Additional upgrades involved refurbishing the workshop, installing mechanical windcatchers, laying a new concrete yard slab, and setting up new railway tracks. Precision Construction Ltd also supplied and installed modular buildings and completed the necessary groundworks for the new maintenance depot. These enhancements have significantly increased the efficiency and capacity of the facility, supporting the transition to more sustainable rail operations.
