The project at Tesco Spencer Dock involved the installation of a subfloor and structural insulation prior to fit out commencement, as well as M+E and refrigeration installation. The project was completed using a design and build contract, which gave PCL complete responsibility for the delivery of the project as a turnkey solution. This included enabling works such as the installation of a tailor-made insulation deck and "Cemfloor" concrete slab flooring system, as well as other associated works. Due to the location of the store adjacent to the Luas line, ongoing work permits and risk assessment submissions were required to enable the works to proceed. In addition, a Dublin City Council embargo on articulated trucks meant that no articulated deliveries were permitted, requiring strategic planning by PCL for deliveries to the site. The end result was a fully-functional Tesco store that was delivered on time and within budget.
